lynda.com

lynda.com helps anyone learn software, creative, and business skills to achieve personal and professional goals. Members receive unlimited access to a vast library of high quality, current, and engaging video tutorials taught by great teachers who are also working professionals.

Is anyone a member of lynda.com?  It is a site with TONS of tutorial videos, tons, like thousands.  It is a membership site for $25 a month.  My Sister in Law told me about it months ago, but for Christmas I got a new camera and on the site it has an entire course for learning to use my specific camera.  While I was stalking the free videos I discovered how many things that I had no idea existed but also how eager I am to learn.  There is EVERYTHING.  Photoshop, Illustrator, creating Facebook apps, photography, blogging, Blackboard, you name it and it is on there.  Honest.  Now, due to Google's ad targeting I'm honestly seeing lynda.com ads at least 4 times a day.  I really want to subscribe but worry that I won't be able to stop at a month or won't get my moneys worth for the given month.

I know there are some awesome tutorials on YouTube and other places (I know I made some of them!) but with those I feel like I waste so much time trying to find a good presenter that can quickly, accurately, and effectively deliver the information.  The other side to this coin is that my internet at home is REALLY SLOW.   In fact I cannot even make it through any of the free videos on lynda.com without it pausing.  So all of my video viewing would be at before or after school.

Is anyone out there a member? Do you feel you get enough out to justify subscribing?  What classes have you taken?  Have you learned anything life changing?  I would LOVE some feedback on this! Thank you so much!  :-D

Teach Me How to Factor

There is nothing that I love more than when teachers and students break boundaries to learn new material.  LOVE IT!  Westerville High School is a prime example.  They have a YouTube channel with 6 different videos taking math concepts and putting them to popular lyrics.  My favorite is "Teach Me How To Factor" to the tune of "Teach Me How to Dougie".  Not even going to lie, I love it!  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

I bet every single one of these students know the revised lyrics and have will always remember how to factor!  If you enjoyed this video be sure to check out their YouTube Channel.  All six videos are awesome.  I cannot wait to see what they come up with next!  Another favorite channel by teachers is HistoryTeachers, here they take historical events to popular songs.  My favorite of theirs is the Black Death  Do you know of any others?  I would LOVE to hear these- one of my favorite things ever!

iMovie App: Fullenkamp Family Video- Christmas 2012

Every year my husband's family does  a Christmas video usually they are sweet, Christmas themed and are well planned out.  This year not so much!  We had some CRAZY kids.  There was no way they were following a script.  Have no fear, I whipped out my iPad and booted up the iMovie app and well, it turned out.  It was super easy to make and it accounted for all of the crazies in my life.  In terms of apps it comes in a bit pricy at $4.99 but I can totally see myself using this time and time again.  Here is the link at the app store.  It did take up quite of bit of memory on my iPad but you are able to compress it once you are finished with the editing process.  As you may be able to tell, we used the retro theme for the first part and the super hero theme for the second.  There are 12 others to choose from.  This has been one of my favorite things ever!  I cannot wait to use this for right to read week.  Have you used the iMovie app yet?  How was your experience?  Any other apps that you recommend?  Thanks so much for stopping by!

P.S.  Just found this blog: Sent from my iPad and she is having a linky party about apps, I think I'm going to post today instead of next week.   I cannot wait to hear others favorite apps.  :-D  Exciting isn't it!

P.P.S. I'm also linking up with Technology Tailgate for her Techy Tuesday Link Up.  :-D

Spell with Flickr

Have you heard of this site?  It is seriously one of the easiest sites ever to use.  You type in any word that you would like and then click spell.  The site then pulls images of letters off of Flickr to make your word.  You can click each letter to change how it appears in your word.  Awesome!  I made a quick tutorial video that is embedded below you can also view it on MrsFullenkamp.com on the Technology Page.

I'm hoping to make this a regular thing so if there are other sites you want covered first let me know!

Watch, Know, Learn

Have you heard of WatchKnowLearn.org?  This site takes all of the video content online and then breaks it down for the classroom.  They have all of their videos divided into 16 categories including math, science, language arts, history, social studies, computers and technology and many more.

In each of these categories they are broken down further into ten different categories.  For example, I click math and then it is broken down into 12 different categories including everything from addition, money, measurement to calculus and the history of money.     Once I clicked on measurement, I went to time, and then telling time to the quarter hour there are 4 reviewed videos that are rated by teachers and ready for the classroom.

Today when I went there was an AWESOME update.  They now have classrooms for each grade level.  I went to the first grade classroom and they have all of their videos aligned to the Common Core.  Let me say that again.  ALL OF THEIR VIDEOS ARE ALIGNED TO THE COMMON CORE!   Are you serious!?!?  Now you can go in there and search for all of the  text exemplar videos that are teacher rated and ready for use.  Think about how much time that will save you!

You can find this and other common core resources on my website here.  Do you have any other free resources that I should include?
